Another two days at RVA. Today is arrival day, and we get to see one day or real school before we leave.

On New Year's day, we climbed Mt. Longonot. I don't think I've been up it since 1982. Steve Peifer and his son Matthew joined us for the climb. It is a national park now, and I was expecting to pay the $15 entry fee. Somewhere along the way we got charged as residents, so it cost us 500/- for all of us instead! It is just as steep and dusty as I remember, but the view from the crater rim is more spectacular than I remember. Somewhere along the line, as it is a national park now, someone hauled a couple picnic tables to the crater rim and put them under the one shade tree on the rim. What a beautifull spot to eat our snack and look around.

There is something about Kijabe that is very comfortable. The climate for one. We've been wearing shorts and sandals the whole time here. I know it cools off some, but still a long way from snow! I think I dislike heat more than cool.

We had a chance to visit some Canadian missionaries in Nairobi who are working with Somali refugees in Eastleigh. They took us to an unsigned, hole-in-the-wall Ethiopian restaraunt, the first time I'd had Ethiopian food. I now know why all the Ethiopian MKs talk about it!

We'll be back in Canada on Saturday, but I must say, the draw of Kenya is pretty strong.
