Steeves' Summary #10: “And a Little Child Shall Lead Them” Christmas 2004

It
is so easy to get weary during the Christmas season as an adult.
Between parties, concerts, and the madness of shopping for the
perfect gift for everyone, it can be exhausting.
After
some coaxing from our children, we made gingerbread men today.
We dropped by Bulk Barn to pick up a selection of small colourful
candies to decorate the cookies. After supper, our whole family
participated in the big event. The kids became extremely
innovative. Julianne had a story for each of the characters she
created. Evan commented with much enthusiasm, "This it the best
day I've had this year!" Oh, to experience magic
through the eyes of children!
It is a quiet reminder for us
of how we are called to become like children.

And
he
said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like
little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in
the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 18:3-4
At
this time of year, we remember how Jesus came into this world as an
infant, helpless, and dependent on others.
We are so thankful that He came to lead us.
As we reflect on
this year, we are grateful for many things. We have had
the opportunity to share about Kenya and missions with over thirty
churches and groups. It has become a ministry in Canada.
Although our departure for Kenya has been delayed until August 2005, we
are both still
working and life continues as usual. Our family outings have
changed from hiking and canoeing to skating and swimming, and there
is a chance that we will adjust to winter!
Many blessings during this Christmas season,
Michael,
Bernadine, Julianne and Evan
