Mount Lononot and Hell's Gate

Mount Longonot is a dormant Volcano in the Kedong section of the Great Rift Valley. It was always large in our view from Kijabe. It was in many spectacular sunsets, and was always a backdrop for outdoor events.

Beyond Longonot was an area known as Hell's Gate. It is now a National Park. It is a rough volcanic area, with many steam jets. There is a geothermal power plant there now which generates power from the steam from underground.

Here are a few of my photos of the area. I'm sure they bring back many memories of those who have lived in the area.
